Welcome to the timber town of Blackbutt, first inhabited in 1842 by European settlers.

Les Muller Park, Blackbutt, QueenslandBoasting a wealth of must-see attractions and recreational activities, Blackbutt and its twin timber town Benarkin, are an easy drive from Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba. A naturalist’s delight, popular with bushwalkers, artists and 4WD enthusiasts, Blackbutt-Benarkin – with a population of about 1500 is approx 150klms north-west of Brisbane.

From camping to arts and crafts to winery tours and cellar door sales, our friendly locals are waiting to share their region with you, whatever your interest. It matters not where you come from, but where you are going.  So make this your next holiday destination or stop-over – and you’ll want to make it home too!

Blackbutt is a friendly, growing town with a myriad of successful businesses including a doctor’s surgery, chemist, vet, community bank, credit union, newsagency, general store, hardware, post office and Laundromat plus boutique shops selling crystals, vegetarian goods and specialist gifts.  There is also a service station, mechanic and panel beater.

For those on the move there are B&B options, a hotel, motel and caravan, camping and 4WD facilities.

Hungry?  There’s a variety of eateries including cafes, a baker, pancake shop, teahouse, chinese and indian takeaway, camp ovens and the local RSL. Other facilities include a florist, hairdresser, beauty salon, child minding, art gallery and cellar door.  Plus we have our own kindergarten and school right in the centre of town.

Blackbutt features its own information centre, council facilities with library, swimming pool, skate park, video hire, golf course, tennis court, rail trail, fishing spots, indoor gym, football ground and children’s park. Why not try one of our local clubs – woodworking, craft, photography, bird watching and book reading. And don’t forget to look out for the wildlife – birds, wallabies, kangaroos, koalas and the occasional elusive platypus. Less than 30 minutes down the highway, you can try your hand at archery, ride the go-karts, or perhaps enjoy race day or a trip to the beautiful Bunya Mountains.

Blackbutt has a monthly local market and our local art group, Friends of Cultcha, holds monthlyBlackbutt/Benarkin Rail Trail exhibitions featuring guest artists, wine and nibbles at the town’s Archie Muir Centre. Annual highlights include the Blackbutt show, a gardening expo, the Beautiful Bloomin’ Blackbutt Festival a Christmas festival – and much much more.

We have everything to make your stay an enjoyable one.  Come for some much-needed R&R.  Leave your busy city life behind and let the kids run free.

Come by bus or come by car.  Follow your adventurous spirit.  Travel at your own pace.  You’ve come to the right place.
